Intense couple of weeks and more to come for KOMLA!! We’ve been in studio recording a new track, having a go at producing, mixing, had a couple of reviews, radio airplays and we are getting ready to our EP launch. But hey, one thing at a time!!
Awwww look at us, concentrating hard at work!! Yes, we’ve been in studio recording a rock version of “How’s The Air Up There” written by Artie Kornfeld. He’s one of the 4 guys who created Woodstock 1969. Yes, read it again, he’s one of them..!! On a personal note, I (Kelpie, the bearded one of the band) I felt I had to start a musical career when one night as a kid I was up until 4 am and watched a documentary about a big concert, where a great guitarist headlined. You know which guitarist and which concert I’m talking about and so for us as a band and especially for myself as an individual, it’s an honour to be in touch with such a man like Artie. We will post the recording we are working on sometime soon.
This morning we received news we got played on a Californian radio called KBYD! California we are ready to come over, just give us a shout!
Still remaining in the US, a great american website called Afropunk reviewed our EP - here the full review:
“UK Powerpop/Rock band Komla have already established themselves as a badass live act. The 3 piece plays the kind of stripped down hook-laden guitar rock that never goes out of style. But they do it with a surprising amount of depth and soul” (Afropunk)
Here’s another review from a website called RingMaster. 9/10, not bad huh? - Here the full review - http://ringmasterreviewintroduces.wordpress.com/2013/03/05/komla-ep/
"KOMLA is a band destined to major things as they inspire and invigorate more and more awakening hearts. They make pop music at its richest and purest but with a rock passion which takes it beyond borders and limitations, wonderful stuff" (RingMaster)
Here we go! Has been a great couple of weeks for us! See you the 5th April at the Century Club in Shaftesbury Avenue for our EP launch!!
